Lula Weekly Status, Week of October 12, 2026
From: Gemma Period: 2026-10-12 to 2026-10-18
Executive summary
This week was about Flat Rate and the speed fix. Page caching went on October 15 with Nate's OK. Pages used to take 1.2 to 1.7 seconds to build on every visit, and now they load from cache in about 0.4 seconds. The Flat Rate page has a new six-question pricing FAQ with matching schema. The Flat-Rate Winterization page is built, Nate reviewed it twice on October 16, and it can go live as soon as the last two images are uploaded.
Search clicks held, 525 against 542 the week before. Branded pages went from 427 to 438 clicks. Impressions fell 35 percent, which mostly means last week's spike on the bare "lula" query faded. It was never real demand. The best property management software article has not recovered its small-landlord positions yet.
Delivered this week
Site speed
- Page caching is on (October 15). It uses the WP Fastest Cache plugin that was already installed, so no new plugin. Pages now load from cache in about 0.4 seconds on desktop and mobile.
- Browser caching and minified HTML and CSS are also on. Returning visitors keep images, CSS and JS for 120 days. Pages themselves are not cached in the browser, so edits still show up right away.
- Tested after each step. The Get Started and AppFolio forms submit, and the cookie banner shows and remembers the visitor's choice.
Flat Rate
- Flat Rate page FAQ and schema are live (October 15). There are six pricing questions: who can use the catalog, how to see prices, city and season, HVAC replacement, extra work found on site, and flat rate vs hourly. Matching FAQ and Service schema is in Yoast, so AI answer engines read the same answers visitors see. I checked it live: one schema block, all six answers match the page, no errors.
- The city list on the Flat Rate page works on phones again. WordPress had broken the mobile styling, and the list now shows in two columns.
- The Flat-Rate Winterization page is built (October 16), from Nate's
one-pager on the flat-rate handyman template. Both rounds of Nate's October 16
feedback are in: the wording is "flat rate per home, no matter the size of
the home," there are cards for inside the home, the main shutoff and photos,
there's a main shutoff valve photo, the steps are labeled "How to get
started," 15,000+ 5-star reviews is the proof point, and the page uses the
handyman form. URL:
/flat-rate-maintenance-price/winterization.
After-hours page
- I looked into why the page gets views but few leads (October 16), using Clarity and Search Console data. Over the last 30 days, nobody clicked either "Book a demo" button. 28 of 33 sessions came from other Lula pages, mostly the menu, and the page ranks for no non-brand after-hours search. The answering service article already ranks around position 4 for "best property management answering service," but it has no link to the page. The sample is small. The fix list is in open items.
In flight
- Winterization page, going live once the under-sink and shutoff valve images are uploaded. After that: a footer link under Flat Rate Maintenance, a link from Kaytlynn's winterization blog post, and Seasonal added to the hub's What's Included list.
- After-hours fixes. I'm starting with the content side: linking the answering service article to the page, a new title and description for the article, and an "Is this an answering service?" FAQ.
- Schema, phase 2. The make-ready city pages and the make-ready hub move into Yoast next.
- Nomad press release and co-authored blog, still in review.
- AppFolio hub, with Nate for review of the plan and wireframes.
- Flat Rate hub rebuild, mockup and copy with Nate.
- Homepage rebuild, with Nate.
Measurement highlights
Site health. 100 on the October 16 crawl. The same two of 510 URLs have an error, both pages that nothing on the site links to.
Traffic. Search Console, October 7 to 13 compared with September 30 to October 6 (Search Console runs about three days behind).
- Clicks went from 542 to 525.
- Branded pages went up, from 427 to 438 clicks: the homepage,
/pros,/login,/services, careers, company, reviews and the app page./serviceswent from 14 to 27. - Impressions went from 54,518 to 35,217. Homepage impressions roughly halved as the bare "lula" query (mostly searches for other companies called Lula) dropped back. The same shift moves the site-wide average position from 4.4 to 6.3, so that number isn't a ranking loss.
/help/insurance-requirementswent from 18 to 9 clicks as the Intercom redirect takes over, as planned. The make-ready cost article went from 3 to 9, and the Flat Rate page from 6 to 8.
Best property management software article. 10 clicks, against 13 the week before. Positions are about where they landed last week: property management software for small landlords at 7.2 (6.7 last week, 3.1 the week before), and best property management software for small landlords at 8.6 (8.0 last week). I'm checking the results page for who moved up before I recommend a change.
Make-ready rankings. The tracker has no new snapshot since October 11, so positions are where they were: apartment make readies 1, make ready maintenance 4, make ready service 5, make ready services 7, all on the what-is-a-make-ready article.
AI visibility. The week of October 5 is now complete. Lula was mentioned in 9.9 percent of relevant answers (9.4 the week before), with 55.0 percent share of voice (52.0) and a 25.0 percent citation rate (26.3). This week only has data through October 14 so far, too early to read. The schema and FAQ work from October 5 onward still needs a few more weeks to show up here.
Backlinks. About 2,130 referring domains, flat for the week.
Blockers and open items
- Winterization. Is it OK to show $169 publicly, including in the Google description? Do we want a dewinterization FAQ? And is winterization offered in every market?
- After-hours page changes, with Nate's OK: rename the menu item to "After-Hours Coverage," add a softer link in the hero and a call to action after the call examples, fix the call labels that look tappable, and trim the top on mobile.
- Pro app download page. It needs a menu item or a link from
/pros. /nomad. Should it be linked from the partnerships page or set to noindex? The "dedicated coordinator" line also needs a check.- The make-ready market list and the AppFolio flow, carried over.
- Product claims on
/predictive-maintenance-software, carried over. - Flat Rate hub rebuild, waiting on review, the portraits, three photos and Decisions 2, 4b and 5.
Next week's priorities
- Publish the winterization page and wire it into the footer, the hub and Kaytlynn's blog post.
- Ship the after-hours content fixes, and exclude team traffic in Clarity so the 30-day re-read is clean.
- Move the make-ready city pages and hub schema into Yoast, and pause the old Flat Rate Tag Manager tag.
