Lula Weekly Status, Week of September 28, 2026

From: Gemma Period: 2026-09-28 to 2026-10-04

Executive summary

The site health cleanup is finished. The Ahrefs site audit went from 80 on the September 25 crawl to 100 on the final crawl on September 30, with one URL left carrying an error. The help center migration is complete as part of that: every old help article on lula.life now redirects to Intercom.

Flat Rate Handyman launched publicly on September 29 with the announcement article live, and the first Flat Rate decision is settled. On October 1 Nate set AppFolio as the priority, and the plan, page format and wireframes for the AppFolio hub are ready for review.

One measurement to treat with care: this week's ranking snapshot for the make-ready city terms disagrees between desktop and mobile. I am not acting on it until next week's snapshot confirms a direction.

Delivered this week

Site health, 80 to 100

All shipped September 29 and 30 and verified live.

  • Help center migration complete. The last six old help pages were retired on Nate's call and now redirect to the Intercom help center home for their audience, Pros or property managers. The old knowledge base is out of the sitemaps.
  • 59 provider city pages under /become-a-provider now redirect to /pros in one hop, with Pro Services sign-off, and are set to Draft. That keeps Pro traffic on lula.life.
  • Make-ready Phoenix and Minneapolis now redirect to /make-ready-service, since neither is currently a served market. That closes last week's "build Phoenix" item: Phoenix should not have a page for now.
  • Author archives redirect to /articles, /demo redirects to /get-started, and eight thank-you and confirmation pages are set to noindex.
  • Twelve heavy images compressed and swapped, including a 7.7MB GIF on the TurboTenant partnership page, now under 1MB.
  • Nate switched the Pros and property manager help centers to HTTPS in Intercom, which cleared the language-tag errors on help.lula.life.
  • The 2025 HVAC tune-up page redirects to the current fall page.
  • The NARPM page is set to noindex so /reviews can pick up searches for Lula reviews, and its broken reviews block is removed.

What is left is one page: the Pro app download page needs a home, either in the menu or as a link from /pros.

One correction to last week: the footer app store links I listed as broken are hidden from visitors by the theme, so nobody ever sees them. That item is closed.

Flat Rate

  • Flat Rate Handyman went live September 29. The announcement article, "Lula Introduces Flat-Rate Handyman: Published Pricing on Common Repairs," was published the same day at /articles/introducing-flat-rate-handyman.
  • Decision 1 settled September 30. The full 20-price page, /flat-rate-handyman-pricing, is set to noindex with no canonical and stays available for sales to share. The four-price page under the hub is the one search engines see. Verified live.

AppFolio program

Following Nate's October 1 direction to go all in on AppFolio customers:

  • Plan and format. /appfolio is the single landing page. Six long-form guides sit under it as child pages (maintenance coordination, work order sync, LuMi, flat-rate maintenance, Foresight and make-ready), plus a savings calculator as the lead magnet. No blog posts and no comparison pages. Only the calculator needs engineering.
  • Wireframes for all eight pages are done.
  • How to judge it. Search demand is small, about 580 monthly searches across 11 terms, so the program is measured on AppFolio-sourced leads and AI citations. The pages are built to be forwarded by AppFolio's team and quoted by AI answers.
  • One thing to align first. AppFolio's own pages describe Lula's role two ways. The partner page says Lula triages every work order with the resident. The Smart Maintenance page says AppFolio's contact center triages and dispatches to the "Lula Vendor Network." The LuMi guide depends on which flow new AppFolio customers actually get.

Content and campaigns

  • Nomad launch. Press release (395 words, three headline options) and the co-authored blog (938 words) went to Nate on October 1, with the point-of-contact line corrected per his comment. Publish target October 8.
  • CALNARPM 2027 session pitch, for Kaytlynn. I mapped the CALNARPM 2026, NARPM Broker/Owner 2026 and MX Summit 2026 agendas to find where the maintenance angle is still open. The recommendation is to submit two sessions, "Spreadsheet, Software, or Service?" and "When Your Coordinator Quits," hold a third on California's new maintenance rules, and bring a CALNARPM broker member on stage with Bo, since vendors are considered after brokers and members. The official deadline is October 16, and we are aiming for October 9.
  • Bo's LinkedIn series. Eight posts over four weeks from the AI Hype vs. Reality deck, now with Kaytlynn for creatives. Two figures from the deck are held out until confirmed.

Foundation

  • Lula design system published October 1. Lula's palette, type, theme rules and components in one reference, so every new mockup starts from the live theme. The AppFolio wireframes were the first build on it.

In flight

  • AppFolio hub, with Nate for review.
  • Nomad press release and blog, in Nate's edit pass, then Chandler on October 6.
  • Flat Rate hub rebuild. Mockup and copy with Nate since September 17. Also needs the full resolution Pro portraits, three subject photos, and Decisions 2, 4b and 5 from the master strategy.
  • Homepage rebuild, with Nate since September 8, with two open questions (the fifth partner logo and a definition for Service Categorization Guarantees). The September 23 site audit is the speed baseline to compare against once it ships.

Measurement highlights

Site health. 80 on September 25, 100 on September 30. One of 526 crawled URLs carries an error, the Pro app download page above.

Make-ready rankings. The October 4 snapshot disagrees by device.

  • On mobile, the city terms moved onto their own city pages: make ready indianapolis went from 8 to 2 and now ranks on the Indianapolis page instead of the service page, which is the repointing we wanted last week. Make ready st louis went from 11 to 4 on the St. Louis page.
  • On desktop, the city terms that ranked last week (Tulsa at 1, Kansas City at 3, St. Louis at 4, Indianapolis at 5) returned no position.

These terms carry little or no search volume, and Search Console shows around a dozen impressions or fewer per city page per week, so a single snapshot is too thin to call. The only change to those pages this week was image compression. I will re-check on the next snapshot before doing anything.

The terms with volume behind them:

  • Apartment make readies, 80 monthly searches, back at 3 on desktop after dropping out last week
  • Make ready maintenance, 150 monthly searches, at 4 on mobile
  • Make ready services, 100 monthly searches, dropped out of the tracked range on both devices, from 7

The what-is-a-make-ready article held its average position (4.5 to 4.7) while its impressions fell from 763 to 469, comparing September 21 to 24 with September 28 to October 1.

Traffic. Search Console data is complete through October 1, so the comparisons here use those two matched four-day windows.

  • The help center move is showing as expected. /help/insurance-requirements impressions fell from 632 to 244 as the redirect takes over, and most of those searches were for the car rental company also called Lula.
  • /articles/best-property-management-software impressions fell from 6,940 to 3,006, while positions held or improved on its main terms (property management software for small landlords moved from 3.8 to 2.9). The drop is in search volume on the small-landlord terms and in automated tool-style queries. Clicks went from 7 to 5.

AI visibility. For the full week of September 28, Lula was mentioned in 9.4 percent of relevant answers (9.8 percent the week before), with 52.0 percent share of voice (53.3) and a 26.3 percent citation rate (28.2). Split by engine, the dip is Google AI Mode and Gemini. ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot all rose. Mention rate is still above the 8.9 percent of the week of August 31.

Backlinks. Referring domains rose from 1,925 to 2,141 in a week, per Ahrefs. A jump that size usually means low-quality sites being counted, so I will check what was added before calling it a gain.

Blockers and open items

  • Pro app download page. A menu item or a link from /pros. This is the last site audit error.
  • The make-ready market list. Phoenix and Minneapolis are out, and the Cleveland, Dayton and Tulsa pages stay live. Lula's brand kit still lists the older 11 metros, including Phoenix and Minneapolis. One confirmed staffed list is needed before the AppFolio make-ready guide names any metro.
  • AppFolio flow. Which flow new AppFolio customers get, and where LuMi sits in it.
  • Nomad. Nate's edit pass, Chandler's review, quote approvals for Bo, Nate and Chandler, boilerplates, landing page URLs and the dateline city.
  • Product claims on /predictive-maintenance-software, still live as of today. The meta description says Foresight "forecasts failures," which is listed as roadmap, and the "up to 80 percent" card in section 6 has no source.
  • Flat Rate hub rebuild, waiting on review, the portraits, three photos and Decisions 2, 4b and 5.

Next week's priorities

  1. Walk Kaytlynn through the CALNARPM pitch early in the week so the submission makes the October 9 target.
  2. Close out the Nomad press release and blog for the October 8 publish.
  3. Start building /appfolio and the first guide once Nate has reviewed the plan, and re-check the make-ready rankings on the next snapshot.
