Three Quick Wins — 2026-07-20

Signal context

  • Ahrefs data: organic keywords snapshot 2026-07-20; top pages compared 2026-06-20 → 2026-07-20.
  • Headline this week: two core ICP content pages lost significant traffic over the last 30 days, and their edit-measurement windows just closed, so this is the read-out point.
  • Timing: three days before the quarterly review (2026-07-23) and inside the Weeks 11-12 push (surgical page-1 moves plus keep/refresh/retire decisions). Both declines are material to that review.
  • Reassuring signals: the make-ready hub is stable and still ranks #1 on "make ready process" (36 keywords), and the /articles blog archive is recovering on its own (71 → 94 monthly visits, "property management blog" now position 4).

Win 1: Recover the lost AI Overview citation on "property maintenance software"

  • Pattern: AI Overview / answer-engine citation loss (organic rankings are stable)
  • URL(s): https://lula.life/articles/best-property-management-maintenance-software
  • What we found (diagnosed): The page fell 95 → 27 monthly visits (−68) over 30 days, but the per-keyword breakdown shows this is two lost keywords, not a ranking slide. Every organic position held steady (property maintenance software programs 7, property maintenance system 6, best property maintenance software 7), and two queries even improved. The drop is almost entirely: (1) "property maintenance software" (volume 1,400, KD 7), which was position 1 as an AI Overview citation and is now dropped off (about −51 estimated visits), and (2) "property management software for maintenance" (volume 200), which was position 4 and is now gone (about −21).
  • Two important qualifiers: (a) The 51 is an estimate of AI Overview citation traffic, not confirmed clicks, so the real click loss is meaningfully smaller than "−72%" implies. This is a presence-share loss, not a collapse of real traffic. (b) The June 3 content update did not cause this: the citation was still live 17 days after that edit and dropped a month later, which points to normal Google AI Overview volatility rather than anything on the page.
  • Live-page check: The intro leads with the compound phrase ("Property management maintenance software centralizes…") and the page has no self-contained definition of the exact head term "property maintenance software" in the body or FAQ. That is the kind of quotable passage an AI Overview pulls from.
  • Why it matters: Regaining the AI Overview citation on the 1,400-volume head term is the highest-value answer-engine move available on the software cluster, and the diagnosis reframes a scary "−72%" as a recoverable single-citation loss with healthy organic rankings underneath, which is the honest read for the quarterly review.
  • How to fix: (1) Confirm on the live Google SERP that an AI Overview still fires for "property maintenance software" and see who is cited now. If it is gone entirely, deprioritize. (2) If it still fires with Lula dropped, make one surgical intro edit so the page leads with an extractable definition of the exact head term. Replace the first sentence with: "Property maintenance software is the system property managers use to centralize work orders, vendor coordination, and cost tracking, so teams manage repairs from request to resolution in one place." Leave the rest of the intro untouched. (3) Update the modified date and re-submit to Search Console, since AI Overview refreshes follow a fresh crawl. Do not rewrite the page: the organic rankings are healthy and should not be disturbed.
  • Owner: Gemma
  • Effort: easy-medium (the SERP check, one-sentence edit, and freshness bump; about 15-20 min)
  • Expected outcome: If the AI Overview still fires, regain the "property maintenance software" citation over the next crawl cycle. Organic positions stay stable. A clean diagnosis either way for the quarterly review.

Win 2: Nudge the make-ready money page to page 1 on commercial queries

  • Pattern: Page-2 → Page-1
  • URL(s): https://lula.life/make-ready-service
  • What we found: The make-ready commercial page (already rewritten and signed off, and ranking position 3 on its top keyword "apartment make ready services") sits just off page 1 on three commercial-intent variants: "make ready services" (volume 100, position 10, KD 20), "make ready services near me" (100, position 9, KD 0), and "apartment make readies" (90, position 8, KD 0). About 290 combined monthly searches, difficulty 0-20, traffic flat month over month (22 → 23).
  • Why it matters: Make-Ready is the highest-priority cluster and now fully built out (hub, six spokes, 16 city pages live). This page is the commercial conversion surface for the whole cluster and it is one position short on its money queries. It is the clean offensive move on the top-priority cluster with everything already wired behind it.
  • How to fix: Surgical on-page to surface the exact commercial phrases. Ensure an H2 carries "make ready services," and serve the "near me" intent with a short "make-ready services in your market" block that links the live city pages. Add "apartment make readies" as a natural variant in a subhead or the opening. Confirm one internal link in from the hub using a commercial anchor rather than the informational one.
  • Owner: Gemma
  • Effort: easy-medium (15-30 min)
  • Expected outcome: "make ready services" (position 10), "make ready services near me" (position 9), and "apartment make readies" (position 8) cross to page 1 within 30 days, adding roughly 20-40 commercial-intent visits per month into the cluster's conversion page, with the 16 city pages positioned to catch the "near me" spillover.

Win 3: Diagnose the deferred-maintenance decline

  • Pattern: Ranking decline + Page-2 → Page-1
  • URL(s): https://lula.life/articles/deferred-maintenance
  • What we found: Traffic fell 53 → 23 monthly visits (−57%) over 30 days, and the keyword count is down to 6. The June intervention added three internal links to build authority behind "what is deferred maintenance in real estate" (then position 7); a month later that query is still position 7 and overall traffic has more than halved. The definitional variants remain just off page 1: "what is deferred maintenance in real estate" (volume 100, position 7, KD 5) and "what does deferred maintenance mean in real estate" (50, position 6, KD 4). This page is a named Weeks 11-12 push.
  • Why it matters: It is a named page for this phase and a core ICP page that is bleeding, right before the quarterly review. The internal-link-only intervention has now been measured and did not work, so a proper diagnosis is what the review needs to make the keep/refresh/retire call.
  • How to fix: (1) Pull position history on the core "deferred maintenance" term to confirm whether it held position 2 or slid, and check the SERP for an AI Overview or featured snippet now owning the definitional answer (an AI Overview can take the click even at a strong organic position, so judge presence, not just clicks). (2) If it is an on-page gap: add a tight direct-answer block that leads with "Deferred maintenance in real estate is…" so the page owns the definitional variants outright, plus the "what does deferred maintenance mean" phrasing in an H2. (3) If the SERP shows an AI Overview or snippet is the real cause, treat it as a presence-share situation and feed that into the keep/refresh/retire decision rather than over-editing.
  • Owner: Gemma
  • Effort: easy-medium (20-30 min including the SERP and history check)
  • Expected outcome: Either the definitional variants (positions 6-7) recover to page 1 with the direct-answer block (roughly 10-20 visits per month back), or a clean diagnosis that the loss is AI-Overview / SERP-feature driven, which changes the decision from "push" to "accept presence share / retire candidate."
